After a short stop-over (passengers do not de-board), when we're ready to head back to Santa Fe, the brakeman/woman rides the caboose, and the engine "shoves" all the cars up the track. The train ride to the scenic overlook is about 45 minutes to one hour each way. We run this train year-round on Sundays, and also on Wednesdays from May through October. Snacks, hot and cold drinks, as well as stronger stuff is available at our cash bar (small bills, please). Longer Lamy Day Trains are also available, click here for more info --> Lamy Day Trains Make reservations in our vintage 1920s coach cars, or request seating in the '50s-era luxury lounge silver car. These 'short trip' trains on
Wednesdays were created for the school field trip season. Coaches will
be available for school children, but regular passengers can join them
if room is available. Silver and Dome areas may be available if you want
to insure a peaceful, less lively ride.
For School Group Rates click here NOTE: We always try to make exceptions for school groups (depending on size), and sometimes add a train during the week. We also encourage regular passengers to inquire about special or group trains that are not regularly scheduled as you are certainly welcomed. Please inquire with depot reservations staff.

![]() Loved being on the train--brought back memories of childhood when I traveled by train on vacations. Great ride! The kids had so much fun--especially on the flat car. Really a delightful way to spend the day. Beautiful scenery and length of trip was perfect. |
